Making a start on the BFP – Part 1
“As I get older I find that to learn something detailed (like learning to blog on WordPress!), my brain has to filter out distractions, things that are irrelevant to the task in hand. Learning something new is vital for cognitive health and success comes when it is driven by a high level of motivation (really wanting something to work) attention, and and practice. The neurological evidence is clear that focusing attention enhances neural responses in the brain. Paying attention is the most important starting point.
It’s likely that the attention response is vital throughout life if we wish to learn. When we are young we learn so much more quickly , and we learn in different ways, by observing others for example. So if you’ve made up your mind that you want to learn something, at any age……. just focus! However that’s not a simple thing to do given the complexity of our environment ……. people talking, dogs barking, children running in and out, other jobs to do, telephone rings, what’s on tomorrow!… (VISIT MARGARET’S BLOG)“
